Our spotlight for this week is on one of our favorite venues in Atlanta – Park Tavern. We chatted with Lauren Blaska and Ashley Marler, the sales and event team about their event spaces, the history of the building, and some facts they wish couples knew about Park Tavern!

Wedding Belles: Paint us a picture – give us a description of your venue as if we have never been there before!

Park Tavern: We actually have TWO venues within our property! The Piedmont Room is a fully indoor venue that offers a unique blend of historic and modern Atlanta. The foyer features Stone Mountain granite walls and original features dating back to the 1920s. The main room where our ceremonies and receptions are held is comprised almost entirely of windows that overlook Piedmont Park and the Midtown skyline – a spectacular view day or night! The Piedmont Garden Tent is our fully covered and climate-controlled outdoor venue. Its private Meadow area is ideal for outdoor wedding ceremonies and also offers additional cocktail hour and reception space for guests to enjoy.

Wedding Belles: What is the history of your venue? How long has it been a wedding venue?

Park Tavern: The oldest part of our building, the Tavern Lounge, dates back to 1905 and was a horse stable. When the park was developed into a golf course in 1928, what is now the Piedmont Room foyer was added to the building to serve as the clubhouse. The original wood features and windows remain today. Park Tavern has been in business as a restaurant since 1996 and hosting weddings for over 20 years!

Wedding Belles: Is there a perfect guest size for each space? If so, what is it?

Park Tavern: The Piedmont Room has a 180 max capacity for full seating and 230 for a cocktail style event. The Garden Tent has a max of 250-300 for full seating depending on setup style and 300+ for a cocktail style event.

Wedding Belles: What do you include as part of their rental package?

Park Tavern: Our rental fee includes all tables, chairs, linens, and complimentary self-parking. We also provide in-house catering and beverage services.

Wedding Belles: What do you wish couples knew before they contacted you? What do you wish they knew before going on a tour?

Park Tavern: We would love for couples to understand that our two venues are rented separately, each having its own rental food and food and beverage minimum. Either venue can host all components of a wedding, so you only need to rent one of our two venues for your event. We would also love for couples to understand that we do not allow outside catering and offer a wide range of menu options to choose from.

Wedding Belles: How early should couples book their wedding at the Piedmont Room or the Garden Tent?

Park Tavern: Our Saturday dates typically book 12-18 months in advance and weekday and Friday/Sunday dates typically book 6-12+ months in advance.

Wedding Belles: Are you offering any special packages for smaller weddings in the midst of COVID-19?

Park Tavern: Yes! We are launching a special option called Simply Wed by Park Tavern. This all-inclusive package offers a one-hour elopement wedding including the officiant, floral décor and bouquet, music, and photographer for up to twenty guests. The Simply Wed event will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2020.
